Friday, Jan. 11 - Central Airport

Central Airport (1933)

Commercial pilot Jim Blair is blackballed after his plane crashes in a thunderstorm. Depressed, he begins working as a bank teller until he meets beautiful Jill Collins, a barnstorming parachutist working with her daredevil pilot brother. Jim's immediately attracted, and when her brother's killed in a freak crash, he reveals his past to her and volunteers to replace her dead sibling in their air carnival act. As they tour throughout the Southwest, their affection turns physically intimate when they're on the road as they characteristically sleep in adjoining hotel rooms. Jill wants marriage but is resisted by Jim, who believes that his risky lifestyle precludes the luxury of a wife and family.

When Jim's brother Bud joins them, he too is immediately attracted to Jill but respects his brother's relationship, However, after another freak accident puts Jim in the hospital for a prolonged convalescence, Jim returns to find them married and in bed together. Angry and bitter, he becomes a soldier of fortune and loses an eye and a leg flying for the Communist rebels in China and Chile. After a prolonged estrangement, a chastened Jim goes to Cuba to rejoin Bud and Jill but finds his brother's plane has gone down in a storm in the Gulf of Mexico. With only a short window of opportunity to save Bud and his passengers, Jim volunteers to go into the storm to save his brother.

Tuesday, Jan. 8 - Tiger by the Tail

Tiger by the Tail (1970)

Vietnam War veteran Steve Michaelis returns to the United States to restore his relationship with his estranged brother Frank, who is the principal shareholder of a California racetrack. Steve arrives only to discover that his brother has been murdered by two Mexicans during a robbery. Steve believes that the robbery was merely a cover-up created by one of the other shareholders for the murder of his brother.

Despite being followed by the suspicious Deputy Laswell, Steve forces shareholder Del Ware to admit that he took part in Frank's murder. Ware is murdered, however, before he can reveal the identity of his accomplices.

With the assistance of Rita Armstrong, a former girl friend as well as a shareholder, Steve forces Deputy Laswell into revealing his complicity. Laswell is then shot by Sheriff Jones, who admits that it was he who planned Frank's murder; in the ensuing fight, Steve disarms and kills Jones. Now in firm control of the racetrack, Steve and Rita resume their romance.

Alan Morris guns down his estranged wife in cold-blood, and blames her friends namely Vegas showgirl Michele for turning his wife against him. She was there when it happened and he goes after her. This leads her to flee Vegas and make her way to Los Angeles, but Alan tracks her down.

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1984–1985): The Red Headed League (Season 2 | Episode 5 - aired 22 September 1985)

Sherlock Holmes in investigates the strange case of Jabez Wilson. The man was recently offered employment by an organization known as the Red Headed League. For the grand sum of 4 pounds per week, he was to sit in an office and copy out entries fro an encyclopedia, starting with the letter A. He had responded to an advertisement and while there were many applicants, he has no idea why he was selected as the League's beneficiary. When after several weeks his employment is suddenly terminated, Mr. Wilson doesn't know what think. Holmes quickly deduces however that it was the location of his office as much as his red hair that resulted in him getting the employment in the first place.

Friday, Jan. 4 - Penthouse

Penthouse (1933)

Racketeer Tony Gazotti is thankful that lawyer Jackson Durant helps him beat a murder rap, but Durant just does it for the thrill of it and refuses payment. Durant's defense of mobsters causes his firm to disown him and his girlfriend Sue to leave him. But when young Tom Siddall, Sue's new boyfriend, is framed for a murder, she is the first to come asking for Durant's help. Durant uses Gazotti's information network and the help of new girlfriend Gertie Waxted to find that rival gangster Jim Crelliman is involved in the framing of Siddall. When Durant sends Gertie to Crelliman's apartment in a bid to blow open the case, she is walking on thin ice.

Woman Obsessed (1959)

Mary Sharron (Susan Hayward), who must single-handedly raise her sensitive young son and oversee the family ranch after her husband is killed in an accident, hires gruff laborer Fred Carter (Stephen Boyd) to help out around the farm. Before long, local gossip Mayme Radzevitch (Barbara Nichols) spreads bawdy rumors about Frank and Mary, so the widowed mother weds her farmhand to keep the town quiet. Unfortunately, Frank's idea of tough love soon drives a wedge between Mary and her child.

The City Slicker (1918)

Harold comes to modernize a hotel in the mill town of Punkville, while attempting to engage the interests of society belle Bebe.

The Non-Stop Kid (1918)

Bebe's father has arranged a marriage for her with Professor M.T. Noodle; when Harold learns of this he disguises himself as the Professor and gets himself involved in a disastrous tea party. The finale is the model for the Three Stooges' Micro Phonies as Harold attempts to fake singing through use of a gramophone, which works pretty well until valet Snub breaks the record and puts on another one with a female vocalist.

Ring Up the Curtain (1919)

Harold is a stagehand and Bebe is a snake dancer. The film has a facile playfulness with stage conventions, with backdrops, settings and props recast into a variety of different uses that meddle with the viewer's perspective at length.

Lee Bowman plays Gil Archer, who arrives at a rectory to visit his old friend, the priest, only to learn that the priest's body was discovered minutes earlier. It's an apparent suicide, although that should be unthinkable for a priest.

Archer is convinced it was murder and is soon entangled with a mysterious brunette (Marguerite Chapman) and some oddball characters, played by George Macready, Edgar Buchanan, and J. Edward Bromberg. Everyone is searching for a pair of Bibles, which had apparently been in the priest's possession; legend has it that the Bibles will provide clues to the location of a lost Da Vinci painting of Joshua at the Battle of Jericho.

Angie works a sales clerk in a department store and comes from a close knit Italian family where her brothers keep a close eye on her. The two really don't know one another but Rocky agrees to arrange for her to have an abortion but when he sees the conditions under which it will be performed, he gets her out of there. Faced with his situation, Rocky asks Angie to marry him but she seems uninterested, especially since he sounds like he's taking a dose of bad medicine, and turns to a lovelorn suitor, Anthony, as a solution to her situation. Rocky continues to try and see her however and it soon becomes apparent that she also has another plan.
