The story follows a handsome movie crooner, Vic Morton (Kenneth Farrell), who is receiving death threats. The film's central "secret" is that Morton cannot actually sing; his voice is dubbed by his accompanist, "Bogey" Mann (Chill Wills). The mystery deepens when associates are murdered, leading a reporter and his girlfriend to investigate.
