On the outskirts of the little village of Welford in Devon lives a young farmer. He lives alone, undisturbed by strangers and prefers it that way. But when his nephew, who is on the run from the police, arrives with his gentle young wife, a series of tragic events is set in motion.
After a failed bank robbery the getaway driver flees to the Devon countryside and the farm of his uncle.
A woman is haunted by her conscience after she kills a man and hides the body.
