The show begins with a woman coming to Richard Diamond asking for his help. Her husband has been cheated and they cannot prove it. Diamond agrees to go under cover and sets the bait--posing as a rich and gullible business man on the same train the husband took when he met up with the con men. And, like clockwork, Diamond meets a new 'friend' who introduces him to the con. It seems that a guy has a system--he learns about the horse racing results just before they are broadcast and using this short delay, he's able to bet and win every time. Diamond and his 'friend' bet small and win--using this man's recommendation. So, the crooks have him hooked and plan on having Diamond bet much, much larger the next time--only the winner they give him won't be the winner after all.

This episode begins with a man nearly getting killed. He insists it's only an accident--his wife insists someone is trying to kill him. So, on the sly, she hired Diamond to be a shadow body guard. In other words, hang out with her stubborn husband and don't let him know he's being protected! But, the stubborn old guy is a bit of a misanthrope--and getting to know him will be impossible unless Diamond engages the man in a chess game--something the guy adores but a game about which Diamond knows little. I guess it's time for him to learn and learn fast...

Hewitt's wife has been away for a few days and when Corder meets her, she seems rather unconcerned or standoffish.

It is only when Dr Corder meets Hewitt's sister that he begins to put the pieces of the puzzle together...

Everyone around him seems to agree that retirement shouldn't be forced upon you if you are still able and willing to work, but no one in this large company where he works seems to be able to anything about this rule--especially since the company is actually controlled by a huge corporation. They just keep saying it's company policy and they would change it if they could--maybe he should talk the the guy in charge to get the rule changed someone suggests. Unfortunately, no one seems to know exactly who that is or how to find him. Out of sheer frustration, he hatches a plot to impersonate the company's CEO and make the changes himself! Unfortunately, this relatively simple plan snowballs and lots of unforeseen problems arise.

While Bond had Goldfinger, this film featured Goldfeather, a bikini clad secret agent played by Heidelinde Weis. The film has its share of gadgets and even includes a dynamite breakfast roll. Lange plays Agent John Krim who is pursued across the US before being caught in the Nevada desert...
