The Door with Seven Locks by Edgar Wallace, the story blends "old dark house" tropes with macabre crime fiction. Upon his deathbed in 1928, the wealthy patriarch Lord Selford demands to be entombed alongside a massive fortune in family jewels. The tomb is secured by seven separate locks, and the seven accompanying keys are distributed among different trustees and descendants.
Ten years later, Canadian heiress June Lansdowne (played by Lilli Palmer) returns to England and receives a mysterious key, drawing her into a dangerous conspiracy. As she and a team of investigators try to unravel the mystery of the missing keys, they cross paths with Dr. Manetta (Leslie Banks), a devious and sadistic physician who operates a hidden underground torture chamber.
