The Boss (1956)World War I veteran Matt Brady (John Payne) returns home and is given a government job by his brother Tim (Roy Roberts), boss of a local political machine. During a drinking binge, Matt alienates his fiancee and impulsively marries a complete stranger, angering his brother in the process. After Tim passes away from a heart attack, Matt assumes control of the political machine, his influence eventually reaching across the entire state. However, his ruthlessness and mob ties bode ill for his political survival.
