Thursday, June 27 - Department S: Six Days

Department S (1969–1970) TV Series

An elite department within Interpol, Department S inherited those cases which the other member groups had failed to solve. The brains of the group was Jason King, a hedonistic maverick who wrote mystery novels and solved real-life crimes by projecting himself into the shoes of his fictional hero, Mark Caine. American Stewart Sullivan was the fighter and pragmatist of the group--as down to earth and cynical as Jason was flighty and flamboyant. Annabelle Hurt was their scientist and analyst, whom Jason often accused of loving nothing in the world except her computer. Although there was strong loyalty among the trio, there was also a lot of competition, especially between Annabelle and Jason, who seldom agreed on any theory and were continually trying to show each other up by solving the case using their preferred methods. The head of Department S was Sir Curtis Seretse.

Department S: Season 1, Episode 1 Six Days (9 Mar. 1969)

An air-liner arriving in London from Rome is not thirty minutes early,as the pilot assumes, but in fact six days late. None of the crew or passengers - who have a mysterious bruise on their arms - can account for the missing six days,no extra fuel has been used and the plane has not been tampered with in anyway. An Eastern bloc pilot is among the names on the passenger list but he is killed before he can be interviewed, and he is not the only casualty. As Sir Curtis was on board the plane Department 'S' has an interest in investigating what happened.
