President Varnold, the leader of a friendly country, is in critical condition after an assassination attempt. His location in a hospital is a secret. But when a young lady found wandering the countryside seems to know something of the hospital, John Drake suspects the president's life may again be in danger. Because of amnesia, the girl has little to offer at first. But as her memory slowly returns, the details of a deadly plot become more and more clear.
