Friday, Feb. 28 - The Vise: The Hostage & Man With a Camera: Closeup on Violence

The Vise (1954–1961) TV Series

This British production featured less known actors in filmed plays showing people caught in "the vise" of fate created by their own deeds.

The Vise: Season 4, Episode 38 The Hostage (25 Feb. 1958)

Mark Saber does not usually respond to threats, but when an unknown woman phones him and threatens to commit suicide unless he calls round within half an hour, he feels it is his duty to act. She takes Stevie hostage and gives Saber three hours to find her friend or she will kill Stevie.

Man with a Camera (1958–1960) TV Series

Former combat cameraman Mike Kovac is now a freelance photographer in New York City, specializing in difficult and dangerous assignments where he can get the kinds of pictures that other photographers can't, or won't take. He sometimes gets help, often reluctantly, from his contact in the police department, Lt. Donovan, and advice from his immigrant father Anton.

Man with a Camera: Season 1, Episode 4 Closeup on Violence (31 Oct. 1958)

Kovac takes a crowd shot at a fire scene, inadvertently recording the daughter of an aged mobster, hiding out in a tough neighborhood. The old man is being protected by a gang of young hoods, or so he thinks.
