Echo the Ventriloquist (Lon Chaney) teams up with fellow carnies (Harry Earles, Victor McLaglen) to use their skills for crime, setting up a profitable scam operation behind the guise of a kindly old lady and "her boys" running a pet shop. But things go awry, resulting in a murder, a falsely accused patsy, and a falling out among thieves.
