Wednesday, April 5 - Route 66: Peace, Pity, Pardon

Route 66 (1960–1964): Peace, Pity, Pardon (Season 3 Episode 26 - aired 12 April 1963)

Tod and Linc are living in a boarding house with two brothers who are jai alai players, (Alejandro Rey and Victor Junquera), and get to know them. There's a lot of exposition to introduce us to the sport, including the statement that's it's played almost exclusively by Basques. And yet the plot turns out to involve Cuba, where a third brother, (Michael Tolan) has become part of the Castro regime. Tolan wants his daughter to come to the US and arranges a secret rendezvous with Rey, who asks Tod and Buz to drive him there in a speedboat.

Tod again assumes the old Buz role of the guy who doesn't want to get involved but does because his partner can't resist. Junqueral is also vary of the project and refuses to go along. The rendezvous ends in tragedy but they manage to bring the girl the girl back to Junquera who promises to raise her in honor of his brothers.
