The Edgar Wallace Mystery Theatre (1960–1965): Downfall (Season 5 | Episode 4 - aired January 1964)
The story has a successful defense attorney (Maurice Denham) winning a case at the outset that frees a man (T.P. McKenna) tried for murder. Denham insists on the man's innocence unlike those around him, who make a case that he's a psychopath who kills when frustrated by a female. Denham is not getting along with his wife, Nadja Regin. He'd like to be free of her. Denham hires McKenna as the family chauffeur and sees to it that McKenna and Regin have plenty of time together. Denham also buys a gun and lets McKenna know where it is when he leaves for some over night work in Dorset with his assistant whom he has a desire for.
This all works out in surprisingly ironic ways.
