Red Hot Tires (1935)
Stock auto-racing footage fills out this predictable yarn in which Lyle Talbot plays race car driver Wallace Storm who is wrongly accused of killing his partner and rival for the affections of Patricia (Mary Astor) in an accident during a race, found guilty of murder, and sent to prison.
While Wallace is behind bars, his pal Johnny (Frankie Darro) digs up evidence that will clear his name. Before they can prove his innocence, however, Wallace escapes jail and takes off for South America, where he achieves great driving success under an alias before returning Stateside when Patricia's father needs a driver for his new car.
The climax finds the judge who sent Wallace up a handy trackside witness to the wronged man's big-race heroics.
