Feeling sorry for her handcuffed prisoner Dorothy, policewoman Casey does a good turn that unfortunately lets her prisoner escape. As Casey now finds out, Dorothy is a troubled young woman with a retarded son she can't deal with. Now Casey and Det. Hopkins must find Dorothy before she injures her child (before she throws him to his death, in other words).

Casey must protect a teenage girl - the only witness to a murder committed by her ex-boyfriend.
Selma's (the teenage girl's) testimony could put the murderer on the loose into prison, but there's a problem. Selma is in love with him. Although the two women couldn't be anymore different, Casey is assigned to stay in a hotel room with Selma until they're able to locate the culprit. Selma's split conscious results in her aiding the murderer in locating the hotel room the women are staying at. When he arrives It's up to Casey to protect Selma from her killer.
