Millicent Jordan is pre-occupied with the plans she is making for a high-class dinner party. Her husband Oliver is in failing health, and he is also worried because someone is trying to buy up the stock in his shipping business - even his old friend Carlotta wants to sell her stock. Hoping to get help from businessman Dan Packard, he persuades Millicent, against her wishes, to invite Packard and his wife to the dinner. As Oliver's problems get worse, Millicent is increasingly quick-tempered because the plans for the party are not going smoothly. As the time for the dinner approaches, it appears that the hosts and the guests will all have plenty on their minds.

Steve Stankey holds up the Wilcox Gas Station and escapes in a taxicab. At a stoplight, he decides to commandeer a sports car driven by a young man but has to shoot and kill a Highway Patrol officer while making the switch. Dan Mathews orders roadblocks established for all major highways to contain Stankey, who abandons the sports car and restrains the driver before making his way on foot to a nearby farm owned by a couple named Edward and Mae. Stankey plans to steal the couple's car and escape, but Dan and Sergeant Moore arrive and quickly become aware that Stankey is in the house and is holding the couple at gunpoint. Dan has Sergeant Moore distract Stankey at the front of the house while he enters from the rear as part of a last-ditch effort to capture Stankey and rescue Edward and Mae.

Twice a month, Mrs. Bixby travels to Baltimore to visit an elderly aunt, her only living relative. Or so she tells her dentist-husband. In fact, she visits the Colonel, her rich lover. Before returning home, he gives her a gift of a fur coat - along with a letter saying that they won't be seeing each other anymore. Mrs. Bixby decides to pawn the coat but her elaborate scheme to explain the coat to her husband doesn't quite go as planned.

Special prosecutor Lloyd Pearson has been murdered and there is strong evidence that gambler Moroni committed the crime, but he has an air-tight alibi, spending the evening with Brad McKay, star reporter of the Chronicle. Norris, the publisher, send Brad and his son, Guy Norris, to cover the story. Brad learns that Moroni did commit the murder, but has no way to prove it. Moroni tells Brad that the murdered prosecutor was getting a payoff, and was killed by his assistant Hugh Walker following a quarrel. John Angus, proprietor of the Hi Lo Club, tells Moroni that Brad suspects him. Phyllis Walker tells Brad that her father is in danger from Moroni. Hugh Walker has given her a key to the public locker where some money is hidden. That night, Brad finds Moroni dead. He realizes there is a higher-up that had Moroni kill Pearson, and then has had Moroni killed. He learns that Walker has been kidnapped, but secures the money from the locker and hides it in his apartment. He meets Alma Dorne at the night club, and, while attracted to her, he suspects she is an accomplice of the gang. He surprises her while she is searching his apartment for the money, and agrees to help him. Norris summons Brad to his home for Brad to show him what evidence he has collected so far. Norris, at the point of a gun, tells Brad he has collected too much. Brad gets the upper hand by telling Norris that his son Guy is walking into a death trap. Norris rushes to save his son from the trap he himself had set for Brad.

When Jimmy tries to see if they will be held until she can pay them, he finds that they were paid in full by Shaw and now he wants Mary to show her appreciation. But no one except Shaw wants Shaw involved with Mary and it could mean trouble for everyone.

Mary Wodehouse (Frances Dee), who has been spoiled rotten by her Aunt Hattie Donovan. Seems Mary has been bouncing checks and wants Jimmy Russell (Fairbanks) to bail her out. When he attempts to retrieve the hot checks by asking the holders to wait a while before cashing them, he learns that a mobster has picked them up already. When Jimmy finds the mobster dead, he takes possession of the checks and makes it all look like a suicide unawares that his columnist buddy, Stanley Fiske (Lee Tracy), is watching.

Soon afterwards, George Belter is dead, Eva shot him and blames Perry Mason for the murder.

Perry has a will and a retainer and must find out whether he has a client or a beneficiary.

Both are chump change when compared to big-time racketeer Michael Granger (as Joe Brindo). He lures Darren, a poor Polish student recently thrown out of his house, with $100 payments and a pretty blonde woman. When Darren is expected to lie under oath in a court case against Mr. Granger's organization, friends and relatives endeavor to turn him around.

Howard Walters has what he thinks is the perfect plan to steal from his employer Wade Taylor and run off with his mistress, Janice Atkins. While flying his small private airplane on a business trip he will parachute to safety allowing the airplane to crash. After he has left, Janice takes $130,000 from the company safe and the plan is to meet at a remote cabin before setting off on their new life. Things start to go wrong when Walters breaks his leg on landing and finds himself stranded with a hermit of sorts, Zack Davis, and snowed in for nearly two months. By the time he gets back to Los Angeles, everyone had pretty much given up hope of him ever being found. That's okay with Janice who has been carrying on with Roger Porter, who works at the same company as Walters. The police eventually find the crash site and recover a body, that of the missing Andrew Taylor, Wade Taylor's ne'er-do-well son who everyone had assumed had taken the missing money. Andrew's wife Carol seeks Perry Mason's help in clearing her husband's name but when Howard Walters is found dead, she is charged with murder.

Johnny Colini, an exiled American living in Rome, rescues Salvatore Giordano, a young Sicilian outlaw, from the police. After Giordano is groomed, polished, and renamed "Johnny Cool," Colini sends him on a mission of vengeance to the United States to assassinate the men who plotted his downfall and enforced exile. Johnny arrives in New York and quickly kills several of the underworld figures on Colini's list.

Meanwhile, he picks up Darien "Dare" Guinness, a wealthy divorcée who becomes his accomplice, she is later severely beaten by the gangsters as a warning to Johnny against pursuing his vendetta. Soon the FBI becomes involved, and when Johnny and Dare bomb the Hollywood home of gangster Lennart Crandall, the police are able to identify Dare's car when she panics and leaves it parked on the street. The two had separated and planned to meet later, but Dare, abruptly realizing that Johnny is a vicious killer, tells his enemies where to find him. She then surrenders herself to the FBI, as Johnny is being tortured by his captors at the film's conclusion.

In a confusing ending the remaining two make it to a town see a flying saucer and turn back into children.

Perry Mason is on holiday in a small village where he hopes to get some rest and get in some hunting with his old friend Sheriff Eugene Norris. Also in town is Phil Beecher who has just finished a term in prison for drunk driving and killing Norris' daughter Aggie in an auto accident. Many in the town are outraged that Beecher would have the nerve to return and even his wife Kathi isn't sure she wants him back so he stays at the lodge where Perry is staying. He witnesses Aggie's sister Charlotte defend Phil from a deputy who attacks Phil in the lodge lobby. Later, Charlotte meets Norman Thurston where they put the finishing touches on a plan to steal the payroll and blame Phil. It all comes to a boil when Sheriff Norris' second daughter Charlotte is killed during a hold up at the local sawmill that sees the $43,000 payroll stolen. Beecher admits to having been there at Charlotte's request but she tried to shoot him and she was definitely alive when he left her. Perry takes up his case and tries to find out who among the many who would have cause to frame Beecher is the real killer.

A masked man enters a library on a rain drenched night - after a few words he is shot dead by the owner with a concealed pistol...but it is only a play. District Attorney Paul Devons (Neil Hamilton) is very scathing of the writer of such rubbish, only to find it is the pretty girl he has been trying to chat up. Pauline Ward (Evelyn Venable) is a mystery writer - the dialogue between her and Bill is delicious and witty - when she and her agent are leaving the theatre they are held up by a masked man at gunpoint!!! but it is only Bill, just trying to prove a point. She turns the tables on him and has him arrested by the night- watchman (Lucien Littlefield) as an armed and dangerous man. Pauline and her agent are going to the fights but when the lights are dimmed, in honour of a dying fighter, one of the contenders is murdered and people are already calling it the "Hollywood Stadium Mystery". 60,000 suspects but the police, in their wisdom, keep only the first three rows for questioning. One of those is Smiley Burnette, who is then called up to entertain the crowd with his impressions of a car race. Fortunately we don't see much of him. The suspects mount up - Edna Mayberry (Lynne Roberts) an old girlfriend who wants revenge, her brother (even though he isn't credited I believe it's Junior Coghlan), a refreshment clerk who wants to avenge his sister and Althea Ames (Barbara Pepper) who just acts suspicious. Pauline establishes that the fighter was killed by poison gas coming from a gun. There is also a scene thrown in when Pauline is attacked in Althea's dressing room by a hooded figure.

Al comes up with a unique solution to obtain the key paper before it's delivered to Grobo, while also keeping the diamond (that the SIA returns).

Like Dickens' rascally scamp, Allen Sheridan cons everyone for his own benefit. He asks Joyce Fulton for money to pay a nonexistent gambling debt to Lou Caporale. His Aunt Sarette Winslow flies in from New York to contact him about missing payments he is to pay her under the terms of his dad's will. She goes to his apartment where she finds his body on the balcony but loses the heel of her shoe in the planking. The next day she contacts Perry Mason who calls the apartment but the maid says Sheridan is gone shocking Winslow. Sheridan planned his get away under the name "William Wyatt." He lies about his birthday to his financial advisor, Victor Latimore, in order to secretly receive his inheritance. He has fled to Los Angeles to escape Ralph Curtis, whom he injured in a fight in New York. And he hides from his penniless aunt, Sarette Winslow, to avoid paying her rightful share of his inheritance. Who wouldn't want him dead? Sheridan apparently flies to Mexico City as "Wyatt," but his body is found in Los Angeles. So who flew to Mexico? Sarette is charged with murder, and Perry Mason must sort out this mess.

But Don and Sam are on to the rustlers and are ready.
