Tuesday, April 16 - Highway Patrol: Retired Gangster

Highway Patrol (1955–1959): Retired Gangster (Season 1 | Episode 11 - Episode aired December 1955)

Jack McCall, a former crime boss turned "gentleman rancher" is scheduled to testify before a grand jury, but current syndicate boss Robert Wilson Houston and his henchmen are determined to prevent his testimony by any means necessary. McCall refuses to leave his ranch, so Dan Mathews decides to protect McCall by remaining at the ranch himself and stationing several officers around the property. After the failure of murder attempts involving a sniper and hand grenades hidden in a bale of hay, Houston sends assassins to attack the ranch house directly, but Dan and Officer Jennings spot the approaching car and are able to foil this attempt as well. McCall had originally sworn that he would tell the grand jury nothing, but he ultimately relents and tells Dan that he will testify fully and truthfully out of regard for the Patrol's efforts.
