Highway Patrol (1955–1959): Escort (Season 1 | Episode 13 - aired January 1956)
Dan Mathews receives an anonymous phone call that racketeer Johnny Barr is about to commit a murder. Dan and Sergeant Milan deduce that the call came from an accountant named Powers who handles some of Barr's "investments". Powers reluctantly agrees to help and attends a meeting at which Barr discloses that his intended victim is Senator Day, whose anti-crime commission has listed Barr as its number one target. Dan devises a complex scheme for escorting the senator to the scene of the hearings, but Barr counters with a series of henchmen placed strategically along the highway. The senator's trip becomes a dangerous chess game between Dan's men and Barr's, but Dan has a surprise in store for the would-be murderers.
