Dance Charlie Dance (1937)
Stuart Erwin is a hick who comes to New York to invest in the theater and gets suckered in by the smooth-talking Allen Jenkins who is dealing with alimony happy ex-wife Glenda Farrell and an untalented leading lady (Olive Olson) who tends to fall asleep during important scenes. Somehow, Irwin ends up in control of the show (along with naive hotel clerk Chester Clute) but finds himself in trouble when he is sued for plagiarism.
