Envious that quick-thinking rival female reporter Torchy Blane (Glenda Farrell) beats them to all the juicy stories, a group of newspapermen stages a hoax to discredit Torchy on the eve of her wedding to Lt. Steve McBride (Barton MacLane). Hiring pompous actor Harvey Hammond (Leland Hodgson) to fake his own death so Torchy will print a false story, the journalists are shocked when Hammond is really murdered -- and Torchy and Steve must postpone their nuptials to find the killer.
