Wednesday, September 27 - Colonel March of Scotland Yard: The Case of the Kidnapped Poodle & The Invisible Knife

The Fairways diamond has been stolen from the home of dog fancier Sir Nigel Fairways, and Inspector Ames has set his sights on Mrs. Linda Brewster, an American houseguest of Sir Nigel's, who believes that Colonel March can help her avert suspicion by pointing the finger at Sir Nigel himself. Meanwhile, March involves himself in another (seemingly unimportant) case, the kidnapping of his newsboy's poodle, but there turns out to be a connection between the two, especially after a call to South Africa clears up the rather humdrum investigation.

Colonel March is retained to protect the notorious Basil Pennacott (Hubert Gregg), who has profited from the deaths of 5 different partners in Singapore, Bombay, Suez, Casablanca, and Tangier. 4 were made to appear as natural deaths, but the fifth, Edmund Hays, was very mysterious indeed- murdered by an invisible assailant with an invisible knife. Pennacott insists that the superstitious Hays was killed while attempting to summon The Devil during a black rite, and now the man's brother (Leslie Weston) has vowed to avenge him by killing Pennacott.
