Kim Hunter is a naïve young lady who married a man she only met three times. She's meeting him in New York in between his business trips, and she accidentally bumps into her old flame, Robert Mitchum. He clearly still has feelings for her. There's a lot Kim doesn't know about her husband, Dean Jagger, and the more she does find out, the less she likes. He doesn't want her to tell anyone where they live, he doesn't approve of her friends coming over, and he's lied about his whereabouts. . .
Because Millie hardly knows Paul, she and Fred begin to suspect that he may be a wanted killer.
